Introduction


Solid Corrosion Protection Europe is a supplier of solvent free high performance coatings for corrosion prevention on steel and treatment of osmosis on poly-ester. The coatings may very well be used for repair purposes as well as on new surfaces.


Because of the total absence of solvents all products have the following advantages:

Our high performance coatings can very well be applied on corroded surfaces after high pressure water jetting or mechanical preparation. Service life extension varies from 2 to 10 years depending on the applied system and surface preparation.


Product

  • Solid Prime the extremely penetrating primer with good direct and reversed impact resistance and adhesion to steel, applicable in one coat up to 125 micron.
  • Solid Seal the flexible cover coat for Solid Prime to be applied in one coat up to 300 micron.
  • Solid Stripe a very high viscous coat for edges and corners.
  • Solid Prime High Impact a product especially developed for application in areas where extreme impact resistance is required like in dry bulk carriers.
  • Solid Clean a biodegradable cleaner too oxidize old painting and to remove adherent dirt and grease. Solid Clean contains no organic solvents.


All tank coatings are 100% solvent free, extremely surface tolerant and long term flexible. The long term flexibility of the coating itself in combination with an excellent adhesion guarantee the coating is able to follow the extension and shrinkage of the steel during its service life. Because of the absence of solvents, a lot of jobs can be done during sailing by shipmates or a contractor.
Advantages of the solvent free products are the shorter time frame of a total project and the better labour conditions during application. The absence of solvent reduces fire precautions and the use of exhausted air equipment during application in confined spaces.


Several painting schemes on corroded surfaces may be used depending on the required service life extension.
A long service life system consists of two coats, one coat of 100 microns of Solid Prime and one coat of Solid Seal of 200 micron applied on a St2 surface. In between Solid Prime and Solid Seal we always advice Solid Stripe on all edges and corners to guarantee enough coating thickness. The coatings can be airless sprayed, rolled or brushed.
A limited service life extension system consists of washing at around 500 bars and applying one coat of Solid Prime on a St1.5 surface.
