Spray instructions

(Full version in PDF format can be found here)

Main rules

  • Be sure your spray equipment is maintained well, complete and ready for use
  • Keep spare parts at hand in case of obstructions during the job
  • Spraying a solvent free paint is different from other paints
  • Reading the technical datasheet is necessary to maintain a smooth operation from the start
  • Keep cleaning materials at hand from the start, Xylene is only used to clean the spray equipment
  • Check the surface and the environment before you start spraying
  • Always mix complete sets of Solid Prime, Solid Seal, Solid Stripe or Solid Prime HI
  • Apply all the paint within the open time. The open time depends on the temperature

Equipment
Spraying the SOLID PRIME and SOLID SEAL
For spraying Solid Prime and Solid Seal the following basic advice can be followed to reach get good results:

Basic air pressure: 8 bar.
Pressure ratio: 1:63 (for example: WAGNER JAGUAR 75-150 or equivalent equipment)
Spray pressure: 450 – 500 bar
Solid Prime: Nozzle 1088417 40 degrees angle (nozzle 17)
Solid Seal: Nozzle 1088521 50 degrees angle (nozzle 21)

As soon as you have the paint mixed it is important to use the first three minutes to pump the paint through the total system (free gun) without a nozzle. This will improve the spraying pattern because the viscosity will drop slightly. This will also improve the mixing of the paint.

Adjust pressure if the temperature is higher than 15 degrees. The minimum temperature of the paint to spray the paint is 15 degrees Celsius. The best you can do is to store in advance the paint by 18 – 20 degree Celsius storage room.

Spraying distance
Solid Prime: 30 – 35 cm from the surface (12 – 15 inch)
Solid Seal: 35 – 40 cm from the surface (15 – 18 inch)

Warning
Keep in mind that above 27 degrees Celsius the pot life of the paint is SHORT in the tin after mixing with the hardener. DO NOT MIX MORE THAN NESSESARY FOR DIRECT USE.
